Data sources and licences

TerraLab serves open data. Every result lists its sources with their licence, and every file you download keeps that licence and its attribution. You pay for the service, never for the data.

Hosted datasets from the TerraLab catalogue (find_datasets, extract_dataset) each keep their own licence, quoted with them.

The full list of licences and the attribution to show is on Data licences.

Attribution

When you publish a map or a dataset built from a TerraLab result, show the credits from its sources. For OpenStreetMap data, that is "© OpenStreetMap contributors"; ODbL also asks that a database you share stays under ODbL.

Limits

  • Up to 20,000 features per extract, about 1 km around a town centre.
  • Elevation at 30 m; contour areas up to about 10 × 10 km.
  • Files up to 50 MB, lists up to 100 addresses.
  • Parcels, zoning, building heights and IGN photos: France only.
  • Routes through 25 places; travel areas up to 120 min or 200 km.
  • Satellite images up to 20 × 20 km at 10 m.
  • Approximate: not for navigation, surveying or legal boundaries.

Each tool page in the API reference gives the exact range of every parameter.

Privacy

  • Only what the request needs is sent: a place, an area or a file.
  • Logs keep the tool, its status and duration, never your question. The requested area is kept 30 days, with no user identifier.
  • Files are processed in memory, never stored.
  • Never sold, never used to train AI.

Read the privacy policy and the API terms.
