How to Segment
Point-and-click AI segmentation in QGIS. Select objects with positive and negative clicks, navigate dynamically across the map.
Select Your Layer
Pick the raster layer from the layer dropdown in the plugin panel. Any raster layer loaded in QGIS works (local or online).
Start Segmenting
Click Start AI Segmentation (or press G). Your cursor becomes a crosshair.
- Left-click = positive point (green circle) -- "include this"
- Right-click = negative point (red X) -- "exclude this"
Combine clicks to refine. If the AI grabs a neighboring building, right-click on it to exclude.
Dynamic Navigation
Move anywhere on the map and segment immediately. No pre-processing. Pan across a city, zoom into a forest, navigate a coastline -- just click.
Workflow
- Click on an object to segment it
- Refine with positive/negative points until the polygon matches
- Press S to save and move to the next object
- Press Enter to export all saved polygons as a GeoPackage layer
Controls
- Ctrl+Z -- undo last point (repeatable)
- Space (hold) -- pan without losing points
- Escape -- stop the session
