API and MCP Terms

The rules for calling the TerraLab data API and MCP server with a TerraLab account or an API key, from an AI assistant, an agent or your own code.

Last updated 24 October 2026

1. Scope

These terms govern the TerraLab data API (https://mcp.terra-lab.ai/v1) and the hosted MCP server (https://mcp.terra-lab.ai/mcp), together the "Services", when you use them with a TerraLab account, a connected application or an API key.

The contracting company is TerraLab SAS, 173 rue de Courcelles, 75017 Paris, France, RCS Paris 104 501 861 ("TerraLab", "we").

These terms add to our Terms of Use. For the Services, these terms prevail where the two differ. The Acceptable Use rules and the Third-party data licences page are part of these terms. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

You accept these terms when you create an API key or authorise an application to connect to your account. They apply from that moment and do not reach back to earlier use without an account.

Where we still allow use without an account, only our Terms of Use apply to it.

2. Professional use

The Services are offered to professionals only: companies, public bodies, researchers and self-employed people.

By accepting these terms, you confirm that you act for purposes related to your trade, business, craft or profession.

If you accept for an organisation, you confirm that you may bind it. "You" then means that organisation.

3. Account, API keys and connected applications

Keep the email address of your account accurate. One person per account.

Keep API keys and access tokens secret. We show a key once, when you create it.

If a key leaks, revoke it at once from your dashboard and tell us.

You are responsible for calls made with your keys and connected applications, including calls made by agents and scripts you set up. You are not responsible for calls caused by a security failure on our side.

You can list and revoke your keys and connected applications in your dashboard at any time.

A key or a connection gives access to the Services within your account's limits. It gives no right over data beyond that data's own licence.

4. AI agents and automation

You may call the Services from AI assistants, agents, scripts and other automated applications. The Services are built for that.

An agent connected to your account acts for you. You decide what it asks for and what it does with the results.

The AI assistant you use (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or another) is a third party you choose. Its provider handles your conversation under its own terms. It is not our subcontractor.

You may build applications that call the Services for your own customers, as long as the calls go through your account and stay within the Acceptable Use rules.

5. Data you receive and its licences

Most data served by the Services comes from third parties under open licences. Each dataset keeps its own licence. The Third-party data licences page lists them, and every response and file names the source and licence of its data.

TerraLab claims no ownership of that data and adds no restriction to it. You may reuse, share, modify and use it commercially as far as its licence allows.

When you share or publish data you received, or work derived from it, you must follow its licence: credit the source, link the licence, say that you changed it, and keep ODbL data under the ODbL.

Do not remove the licence and attribution notices from files we deliver, unless you replace them with an equivalent notice.

Copernicus DEM elevation data comes with two notices (credit and disclaimer). If you share that data, you must pass both notices on and bind your recipients to them.

Our software, API, documentation and tool descriptions remain ours.

The places, coordinates, text and files you send remain yours. We use them only to answer your request, keep the Services secure and comply with the law.

When you send a file or a link to a file, you confirm that you may use it.

6. Limits

Each account has a limit of calls per minute and per day. Today: 60 calls a minute and 500 calls a day per account, reset at 00:00 UTC. Your dashboard and the /v1/me endpoint show your usage.

A call that fails because of us does not count against your limit.

Some tools also limit the area, the number of features or the size of a file per call. Their documentation states these limits.

Limits apply to access to the Services. They do not limit what you do with data you have received.

We may change limits under section 7.

7. Availability and changes to the Services

The Services come with no service level agreement. We may slow or stop them for maintenance or incidents.

Results come from open data and automatic processing. They may be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Do not rely on them alone for navigation, safety decisions, surveying or property boundaries. In France, the cadastral plan has a fiscal value, not a legal one.

We may add tools, fields and datasets at any time.

We give at least 30 days' notice on https://terra-lab.ai/mcp before we remove a tool, remove or rename a field, change an error that existing clients rely on, or lower your limits.

We may make an urgent change without notice when security, the law, abuse or the loss of our right to serve a dataset requires it. Where lawful and practical, we explain the change on the same page.

We may withdraw a dataset when its source changes it or when our right to serve it ends. Files you already received stay usable under their licence.

Some tools relay third-party services (IGN Géoplateforme, Copernicus DEM on Amazon Web Services, Earth Search). Their providers may slow or stop them.

8. Changes to these terms

We email material changes to the address of your account and publish them on this page at least 30 days before they apply.

If you do not accept a change, stop using the Services and revoke your keys before it applies. Using the Services after that date means you accept it.

A change required by law may apply sooner. Corrections that change nothing in substance apply when published.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop at any time: revoke your keys and connections, or delete your account.

We may limit or suspend a key, a connection or an account when needed to stop a breach of these terms, a leaked key, abuse that harms the Services or other users, or when the law or a data provider requires it.

Where lawful and practical, we tell you why and give you time to fix the problem. We act at once when waiting would put security, other users or legal compliance at risk.

We limit the measure to the affected key or connection when that is enough.

We may end these terms for a serious or repeated breach. We may stop the Services altogether with 30 days' notice.

When access ends, the licences of data you already received still apply.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, the Services and their data are provided as they are, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose.

Neither party is liable for indirect loss, such as lost profit, lost business or lost data, except in case of fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

TerraLab's total liability under these terms is limited to the higher of €100 or the amount you paid for the Services in the 12 months before the event that caused the loss.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

You bear the cost of third-party claims caused by your breach of a data licence, of these terms or of the law, or by content you sent, to the extent you caused them.

11. Privacy and confidentiality

The Privacy Policy describes the data we process for the Services, why, with whom and for how long. Call logs linked to an account are kept for 35 days.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising or use your requests to train AI models.

We keep your keys, your inputs and your account information confidential and protect them with reasonable technical and organisational measures.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law.

Before going to court, write to yvann.barbot@terra-lab.ai so we can try to settle the dispute together.

The courts of Paris have exclusive jurisdiction.

If a clause is invalid, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a clause does not waive it. You may not transfer these terms without our written consent. We may transfer them to a company that takes over the Services and their obligations.
