Legal

Acceptable Use

Rules for access to the TerraLab data API and MCP server. They apply to how you call the Services, never to how you reuse open data you received: that data follows its own licence.

Last updated 24 October 2026

You may not

  • Use the Services to break the law or someone else's rights, or send content you may not use.
  • Share, sell or publish your API keys, or run a public proxy that lets others call the Services without their own account. Building your own application on the Services for your customers is allowed (API and MCP Terms, section 4).
  • Get around limits: create several accounts, rotate keys or applications to multiply your allowance, or pretend to be another client, for example by faking an AI assistant's network origin.
  • Attack the Services: probe them for vulnerabilities without our permission, overload them, or send malicious code. To report a vulnerability, write to us first.
  • Use the Services to identify, locate or track individuals, or to build profiles of people.
  • Rebuild a whole dataset through the Services, tile by tile or call by call. Large extracts belong at the source, which each response names.
  • Present a result as a survey, a legal boundary or another professional determination it is not, or suggest that a data provider (OpenStreetMap, IGN, the European Union, NASA or another) endorses your use.

What these rules do not restrict

Once you have received data, you may reuse, share, modify and sell it as far as its licence allows. These rules add no condition to it. The Third-party data licences page lists what each licence asks of you.

If a rule is broken

We may limit or suspend the key, connection or account involved, as described in the API and MCP Terms, section 9.
