Terms of Service

One contract for the TerraLab website, the free tools and the AI service behind our QGIS plugins. The data API and MCP server add their own API and MCP Terms.

Last updated 2 November 2026

1. Who we are

These terms are a contract between you and TerraLab, a French société par actions simplifiée with €1,000 share capital, SIREN 104 501 861 (RCS Paris, file no. 2026B22910), intra-EU VAT number FR43104501861, 173 rue de Courcelles, 75017 Paris, France, represented by Yvann Barbot, President. Contact: yvann.barbot@terra-lab.ai.

By using the website or a TerraLab plugin, or by subscribing, you accept these terms. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. The data API and MCP server are also governed by the API and MCP Terms.

2. Plans and what they include

The QGIS plugins are free software under the GNU General Public License version 2, which these terms do not change. These terms govern the TerraLab AI service the plugins call: our servers, your monthly allowance, and what the service returns.

Current offering: AI Agent Pro at EUR 49/month with 300 tasks per billing period. AI Edit at EUR 29/month with 100 images per billing period (one image per generation, at 2K or 4K). AI Segmentation Pro at EUR 39/month with two monthly allowances: 100 km² of Automatic detection (the ground area of each zone, counted in km² on the map) and 500 objects saved in the Cloud AI click mode. The Pack at EUR 89/month carries all three. Each paid plan is also sold yearly, at ten times its monthly price. Subscriptions that include AI Segmentation Pro and were taken out before 7 October 2026 keep the km² allowance shown at purchase. Subscribers who took the two-plugin Pack at EUR 59/month or EUR 590/year before 11 September 2026 keep that price, and their subscription includes AI Agent Pro. Free plans: AI Agent carries 5 tasks per month; AI Segmentation carries 1.5 km² and 20 objects per month under the same counting, and Semi-Auto processing on the user's own machine is not metered. Unused allowances do not carry over. Data API and MCP server: every TerraLab account includes 100 calls a month at no cost; a satellite image counts as 10 calls; further calls are paid from a prepaid balance topped up on terra-lab.ai, at the prices shown on terra-lab.ai/mcp. The balance does not expire. Our API and MCP Terms also apply to that service.

3. Your account and licence

Paid services need an account with a valid email address. One account per person: keep it accurate and confidential.

A paid plan grants commercial use of the results to one named person, the account holder. Sharing an account, or using one within a team, is not allowed: several people need several seats, invoiced together. We may suspend a shared account. Results produced on a paid plan stay licensed for commercial use after you cancel.

The free plan is for evaluation, personal use, teaching and academic study only. Its results may not be used in paid work, in a deliverable for a client or employer, or in anything your organization sells. Free use is limited per person, per computer and per plugin: only the first two free accounts active on a computer in the last 60 days keep free use. Creating extra accounts to get more free usage is not allowed.

4. Prices, VAT and payment

Prices are set per country, shown excluding tax and charged in the currency shown. A country's price is for residents of that country paying with a payment method issued there; we may ask for proof and otherwise apply the price of your country from the next renewal, or cancel the subscription and refund it. An active subscription keeps its currency.

French VAT (currently 20%) is added for buyers established in France and for individuals residing in the European Union. Businesses established in another EU member state with a valid VAT number are invoiced under the reverse charge (Article 196 of Directive 2006/112/EC). Buyers established outside the EU are invoiced without VAT.

Payment is taken by our payment provider, by card or the wallets it supports. An invoice for each payment is available in your Customer Portal. For business buyers, late payment triggers penalties at three times the legal interest rate and a fixed €40 collection indemnity (Article L441-10 of the French Commercial Code).

Student price: -50% for 12 months on a monthly plan, for students enrolled in higher education, checked with a school email address and a declaration of enrolment. It is granted once per person and can be renewed each year, up to 4 years, by confirming again; otherwise the plan continues at the full price. We may cancel and refund a subscription if the declaration is inaccurate.

We may change prices. We email you at least 30 days before (60 days for business buyers), and the new price applies from your first renewal after that date. You may cancel before then at no cost. A period already paid never changes price.

5. Subscription, trial and cancellation

A subscription has no fixed term. It is billed at the start of each period and renews automatically each month or each year.

Some plans start with a 7-day free trial, once per person and per plugin (again 90 days after a paid subscription of that plugin ended). A card is required. The trial comes with a trial allowance: 100 tasks for AI Agent, 30 images for AI Edit, and 30 km² (Automatic) + 250 objects (Semi-Auto) for AI Segmentation. When it starts, we email you its end date, the price and how to cancel. Unless you cancel before it ends, the plan starts and your card is charged the price shown at checkout. "Start my plan now" in your dashboard ends the trial at once and charges the first period. Usage during the trial does not carry over. We may refuse or end a trial in case of abuse, such as several trials by the same person or card.

You can cancel at any time from your dashboard: "Manage subscription" opens our payment provider's portal, where you cancel in a few clicks. The plan stays active until the end of the period already paid, then paid features stop. Your account is kept.

6. Right of withdrawal

Consumers in the European Union normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Our service starts as soon as you subscribe: at checkout you ask for immediate access and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once access begins (article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code). Businesses have no right of withdrawal.

Balance bought for the data API and MCP server follows the API and MCP Terms: if you withdraw within 14 days, we refund the part you have not used.

If you believe your right of withdrawal still applies, you can use the withdrawal form.

7. Refunds

Subscription fees are not refundable, except case by case, in particular for a technical defect on our side. Write to yvann.barbot@terra-lab.ai.

8. Acceptable use

Use our services lawfully. Do not attempt unauthorized access to our systems, probe or overload them, reverse engineer our software or the AI models we run, or get around our limits.

You may not use any TerraLab service (the AI service of our plugins, the data API, the MCP server or the free tools) to:

  • Design, develop, produce, test, acquire or use weapons, including firearms, munitions, explosives, drones built as weapons, and chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons.
  • Plan, support or assess military operations or the use of force, including intelligence gathering, the detection or identification of targets, strike planning and battle damage assessment, whoever you work for.
  • Plan, incite or carry out violence, terrorism or attacks against people, or against critical infrastructure such as power, water, transport, health or emergency services.
  • Locate, follow, watch or profile identifiable people without their consent or a lawful basis, including mass surveillance and identifying people from imagery.
  • Break export controls, an arms embargo or sanctions, including the EU rules on dual-use items (Regulation (EU) 2021/821).

8a. What stays allowed, and model limits

Work that protects people is allowed, even when it touches the subjects above: humanitarian demining, search and rescue, disaster response, civil protection, damage assessment for humanitarian aid, and academic or journalistic research on conflicts and their effects. Unsure whether your project fits? Write to us before you start.

AI Segmentation's cloud detection runs a licensed third-party model whose licence adds limits that we pass on: no use subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), no military, nuclear, espionage or weapons end use, and no subjective judgements about objects or people. You confirm that you are not a target of sanctions of the United States, the United Nations, the European Union or the United Kingdom. If you publish research using its results, acknowledge the model's use. These limits do not cover Semi-Auto segmentation on your own machine.

If a rule is broken, we may suspend or close the account. For weapons, military use, violence or surveillance, we close it at once, end its paid services and report the facts to the authorities where the law requires it.

9. Your imagery and content

You keep every right in the imagery, prompts and files you send. You confirm that you may have them processed by a service provider without breaking a licence that binds you. You grant TerraLab a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store and process them only to run the service for you (your requests, history, backups and support); it ends when they are deleted. We do not sell your imagery, share it with other users or train any model on it.

If content on our service was sent without your permission, write to yvann.barbot@terra-lab.ai with "rights claim" in the subject: what it is, why you hold rights in it and how to reach you. We decide normally within 15 working days and tell the account holder (Article 16 of the Digital Services Act).

Content on this website belongs to TerraLab or its licensors.

10. AI Agent and AI results

AI Agent reads a description of your open QGIS project and acts on your instruction: it can add, edit and remove layers, run algorithms and code, and write files. The permission level you choose sets what it does without asking.

AI results (agent answers, generated images, detections) can be wrong even when they sound certain. Check them before relying on or delivering them, and back up data that matters. You are responsible for the actions you approve and for how you use the results.

11. Free tools and open data

The free web tools need no account, come as they are and may change or stop. Their results come from open data and may be incomplete or wrong: do not rely on them for navigation, safety decisions, surveying or property boundaries. In France, the cadastral plan has a fiscal value, not a legal one. Do not automate them to download in bulk or bypass their limits.

Open data keeps its source licence (ODbL, CC BY, CDLA Permissive, Licence Ouverte, Copernicus and others). We claim no ownership of it. Keep each file's attribution; ODbL data stays under the ODbL when shared. The API and MCP Terms list each licence. AI Segmentation's land cover detection runs IGN's FLAIR-HUB model (Licence Ouverte 2.0).

12. Liability

We aim for a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or specific results. Our total liability is limited to what you paid in the 3 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect damages. For consumers, this does not limit the legal conformity warranty for digital content and services (articles L224-25-12 and following of the French Consumer Code) or any liability the law does not allow us to limit.

13. Changes and transfer

We may change these terms. A new version applies when we publish it here, or from the later date it states, and we email you about material changes. Price changes follow section 4. We may transfer this contract to a company that takes over our business, with 30 days' notice.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. For business users, the courts of Paris have exclusive jurisdiction. Consumers residing in the European Union may sue in the courts of their place of residence (Regulation Brussels I bis, EU No. 1215/2012). If you are a consumer and we have not resolved your written complaint, you may refer the dispute free of charge to our consumer mediator within one year of that complaint: CM2C, 49 Rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France, https://www.cm2c.net/.
